Love in a Backpack

Our church joins with St. John’s Episcopal Church in Ashfield to support the Love in a Backpack program. When a woman is released from prison, she has the clothes on her back and a small stipend for transportation. This ministry provides a backpack filled with the basics for personal care, food and a hand-written note from a member of the community. These backpacks go to newly-released women prisoners from the Greenfield and Chicopee Correctional facilities.  Our church joins with St. John’s to donate items for the backpacks (such as shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, lotion, toothbrushes, etc) as well as helping to fill the backpacks.  For questions, contact Maddy Leue, Coordinator, at outreachstjohnsashfield@gmail.com. Thank you for whatever help you can give.

Mission
We are a small group, striving to be open and accepting, sometimes disagreeing yet loving one another, wading through the joy and pain of spiritual growth, who pledge to worship God together, follow the example of Jesus, embody God's holy spirit, support our church family, and serve our neighbors near and far.
