Bible Study at St John's Episcopal Church: Join our neighbors at "Java with Jesus," Friday mornings,  9am – 10am. Online scripture study with Vicar Vicki. Please visit stjohnsashfield.org for log-in information.

Bible Study at First Congregational Church, Thursday evenings 7-8:00 PM:  ON A SUMMER BREAK. WILL RESUME IN THE FALL. Readings will usually be selected from the lectionary. As a group we may decide to pursue a particular theme or book or question, but for now, the lectionary will make it easier for people to join us on any given Thursday.

There are many different ways to study the Bible, but all Bible studies are united in recognizing the importance of studying together. The scriptures can be an invitation into a conversation, an opportunity to share reflections on how the teachings are relevant to our lives today. As always, we will strive to be a place where believers, questioners, and questioning believers can create a welcoming, open, and affirming community for all.

If you want to participate, use any Bible you have on hand. It is often fruitful to read from multiple versions and translations. If you do not have a Bible at home, you can find the scriptures online at Bible Gateway (https://www.biblegateway.com/). You can find each of our readings there.

“Bubble Up” is our monthly theological discussion group. We discuss our spiritual journeys including ups and downs, struggles with faith formation, our individual commitments to growing in love. We don’t follow a curriculum. We simply use silent contemplation to begin our sessions, and then talk about whatever is “bubbling up.”

Other adult spiritual development groups have included a “Race” book group, Advent study, “Walking the Path with Mariel” (to share thoughts stimulated by Mariel Kinsey’s book), Centering Prayer and prayer groups.

Mission
We are a small group, striving to be open and accepting, sometimes disagreeing yet loving one another, wading through the joy and pain of spiritual growth, who pledge to worship God together, follow the example of Jesus, embody God's holy spirit, support our church family, and serve our neighbors near and far.
